The horse is not black, but a small detail like that isn’t enough to thwart the vivid imaginations of the Quartermaine children. This wheeled horse, large enough to be ridden by a small person, and with a looped rope for another to pull it, was immediately christened with the name of Dick Turpin’s famous steed. No one can remember quite who to blame for this, but it was probably Felix.

This wonderful model is made by the artisans behind Literature in Miniature and has a real leather bride and saddle, with metal bridle rings and stirrups. The wheels really do turn. Naturally, games involving the horse have a tendency to be boisterous and over-exciting, and so they are carefully rationed out by Nanny, who knows all too well that such things usually end in tears.
