A simple and powerful statuette of the Madonna, her hands spread in a gesture of mercy. She is based on the so-called ‘Black Madonnas’, statues either of the Madonna alone or with the Christ Child, in which both figures are black. In some cases this is due to the darkening of the wood from which they’re made; in other cases they were black from the beginning. Although they are found across the world, they’re most common in the south of France. This little sculpture, purchased from Xavian Miniatures, will be placed in the Master Bedroom.
