This little brass warming pan attracted me because, unlike some of the more elaborate examples you see, it looked as though it had been actually used. The brass pan doesn’t open, unfortunately, but it has an appealing warm colour and the handle seems to have been smoothed and polished by generations of hands. I also like the contrast between the very plain pan and the subtle decoration on the handle. There’s a useful hook on the end so it can be hung on the wall. If I succeed in getting a slightly more elaborate warming pan in the future, this will probably end up in the Night Nursery or one of the children’s bedrooms, but for now it’s destined for the Master Bedroom, to warm up Charles and Elizabeth’s bedclothes on winter nights.
