As far as possible, I kept our early purchases as miniature as possible, so that they didn’t take up too much space. And what better way than to collect miniature porcelain figurines? Tricia Street, whose more elaborate works command hefty prices, makes gorgeous Meissen-style porcelain pieces which simply exude Rococo style. This is one of two pieces by her that I bought from the collection of the late miniature-makers Stan Dickinson and his wife Barbara Kinghorn-Dickinson, via Barbara’s son Chris. The fan of background greenery is classic Staffordshire.

Unfortunately this beautiful piece has sustained some slight damage, which I’ve managed to repair with superglue. Hopefully it won’t even be visible when it’s on display alongside its peers in the Breakfast Room.
