The choice of a peacock motif gives this humble little stoneware jug a bit of flair. As ever, the deep inky blue contrasts beautifully with the biscuit-coloured base layer. I can’t make out whether the markings at top left of the design are numbers, letters or simply an abstract swirl, like the curlicues at lower right beneath the peacock’s feet. Another piece for the Servants’ Hall.
