I’d been captivated by this firescreen or dummy-board for a long time before I bought it. It’s by Therese Bahl, whose work has a slightly primitive folk-art quality to it. Although it probably more properly belongs in an American home rather than an English mansion, I couldn’t resist it. It will look charming by the fireplace in the Day Nursery.
