When I say large, of course, everything is relative. This is the larger of two folk-art style boxes created by Al Chandronnait in the Quartermaine Collection. My suggestion of the date, and that the box is painted by Bearly Big Enough, is because this box came as a pair with the other – and that one is both signed and dated by Bearly Big Enough, as well as by Chandronnait. The painting style is so similar, and the choice of motifs so comparable, that it’s very likely that both boxes were created as part of the same partnership. For whatever reason, only Chandronnait signed this second box.
