A hearty Sunday lunch for the servants, this meal dishes up the ‘roast beef of Old England’ along with Yorkshire puddings, carrots, beans and mashed potato. Not quite elegant enough to be served upstairs, but no doubt very much appreciated. Just look at the fine detail on the sliced carrots in particular; and the beef joint looks good enough to eat. The platter and plates are made from a thin, almost papery clay called ‘Claymanel’, the branding imprint of which can be seen on the back of the platter and plates.
