Provenance: Bought directly from the artist’s stand at Miniatura at the NEC Birmingham in March 2022.

I’d been coveting one of these for a while, but they were sold out on Country Treasures’ Etsy shop. Fortunately, Laura Brownhill had a new batch in stock on her stand at Miniatura. Any old-fashioned household with boys (or, indeed, adventurous girls) is bound to have a jar of tadpoles somewhere, having been fished out of a nearby pond or stream. For once, Felix isn’t at fault: this is the doing of Georgie, who has begun to show his own inclinations towards natural history. It’s only a matter of time before Nanny rescues the tadpoles and tips them back into the stream, but for now they sit in the Day Nursery.
