This lovely sampler was sold without a name attached, but I recognised the initials ‘NM’ on the back from our other sampler by Nicola Mascall. I haven’t seen this design of hers before and found it rather charming. With the historical subject of a Welsh castle, coupled with the fine demonstration of needlework by a Sarah Morgan (presumably by a Quartermaine ancestor), it’s the perfect decoration for the schoolroom.
