You know how sometimes you see something and realise how much you need it? That happened when I saw this wonderful cross stitch table by Taller Targioni, with a top that can be tilted to various degrees, and a little shelf that slides out on either side to hold rolls of thread (or a cup of tea). The slightly naïve quality of the cross stitch makes it perfect for the schoolroom, where the Quartermaine girls are trained in the rudiments of embroidery. I can imagine a young Quartermaine fretting over her stitches, simultaneously bored to tears and worried about getting it wrong. A lovely piece of furniture, which is really going to be a highlight of the room.
