The Quartermaine children have always been taught to explore the world around them, whether that’s by romping in the garden, going on adventures into the woods, fishing, or collecting butterflies. These charts were probably what first kindled Felix’s interest in butterflies, and they’ve probably made their way into his room once or twice, but have been firmly retrieved by the governess. Vividly coloured, these are just some of a set of natural history charts used for teaching in the schoolroom.
