This pair of large and elegant frames could be used for either mirrors or pictures. I’m inclined towards the latter and can see them hanging in the Dining Room, showing off full-length family portraits (something truly stupendous for this kind of scale), either flanking something even grander over the fireplace, or breaking up the pattern of smaller frames hanging on the long wall.

The level of detail and finesse on the frames is extraordinary. Made by Alison Davies, who normally sells them as kits, they were then painted (on Alison’s commission) by Karen Bell, to give them this gorgeous gilt appearance. Wonderful things.
