Provenance: Bought from The Dolls House Shop on eBay in 2022

This is a curious case. The figurine is unsigned (lacking the usual initials ‘TS’ on its base), but everything about it reminds me of the work of Tricia Street – from the gracefully attenuated body to the bright colours. I am moderately confident that it is indeed by her; it certainly sits very comfortably alongside the rest of her work in our collection.

I’ve come to think of the figure as a ‘harlequin’, even though he isn’t, really: he doesn’t have the distinctive checked motley, but something about his hat suggests a theatrical costume of some kind. He’s perched on a tree stump, shading his eyes with his hands as he looks out for someone.
