This elegant little sculpture comes on a stepped faux marble base. The colour of the base in Andrea’s original listing was a vivid lapis lazuli blue, which doesn’t quite fit with the interiors we have planned – so I asked whether he could paint a base for me that was a more neutral caramel kind of colour. The result is gorgeous!

Like several other artisans I know of, Andrea 3D-prints his pieces and then paints them. This process accounts for the ‘bobbly’ spots on the back of the sculpture, which is designed to be displayed against a wall with only the front visible, and also the ‘ripple’ effect visible on the surface of the figures when examined at very close range, as seen in the final photo below.
