Provenance: Purchased directly from the artist at Kensington Dolls’ House Festival in December 2023.

My attention was captured immediately by this beautiful little basket on Francine’s stall at Kensington. The use of intertwined green and neutral-coloured cord gives it an elegance that lifts it far above a simple kitchen basket. Perhaps it belongs to the housekeeper – or perhaps even to Elizabeth Quartermaine herself, who uses it for gathering cut flowers in the garden? For now, we’ll pencil it in for the Housekeeper’s Parlour.
