Laura Brownhill’s vignettes of animals often have a subtle sense of humour about them – remember her mice investigating the neglected cheese in the Pantry? This lovely little piece has a similar theme: an enterprising mouse has discovered a forgotten slice of Christmas cake. Obviously it’s a very seasonal-specific piece, but it would be fun to tuck it away somewhere in the Parlour if we ever decide to decorate the Hall for Christmas.

Plus, Laura’s Christmas cake looks good enough to eat…
