(b. 1983)

Based in Granada, Fátima Doña produces a variety of miniature sculptures, glassware, paintings and furniture, along with some of the wittiest miniature goldfish bowls I’ve ever seen. Her miniature paintings include copies after Ingres, Klimt, Friedrich, Sorolla and Ligozzi, to name just a few, and they’re presented in beautiful and historically appropriate frames – something which isn’t always the case with miniature art, and which I consequently always notice and appreciate. Fátima originally studied Fine Arts in Granada, Madrid and Brussels, and has gone on to complete postgraduate study in painting restoration, art counterfeit detection, art appraisal, 3D animation, and Zbrush sculpture – not to mention studying physics on the side.
I really hope to add more to our collection of her work in the future, and am watching her Etsy shop with eagle eyes to see if she uploads any more objects suitable for a late Victorian house. Plus, as someone who constantly feels that they started collecting miniatures too late, after so many craftsmen have retired or died, can I just say how happy it makes me to see brilliant artisans of my own age, like Fátima, creating such beautiful things?
Here are the works by Fátima in the Quartermaine Hall collection so far:
