Run by Philip Grenyer and based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in north-east England, Glasscraft creates incredibly fine real glass vases, decanters and glasses. They specialise in cranberry-coloured glass but fortunately, for those of us who prefer a more neutral palette, they have lots of clear glass as well. Take your pick from punch-bowls, vases, decanters and even more unusual items like goldfish bowls (complete with fish) or jars of leeches. Philip’s expertise comes from his training as a scientific glassblower, working in London and Switzerland, when he made full-size delicate items like test-tubes and coils. However, since his mid-20s he has specialised in the miniature side of things. He used to run a shop with Ray Storey (of Storey’s Lighting), and now sells through fairs, such as Miniatura and Kensington, and is stocked by several miniatures dealers in the USA.
