Australian company creating middle-of-the-range miniatures, similar in complexity and finish to Bespaq. Their furniture is made from Australian hardwood and either stained or painted, depending on the desired finish. I don’t believe they are still in business, as they don’t seem to have a current website, although I’d be very happy to hear that I’m wrong. Some online dolls’ house shops – like Melody Jane, where we bought our JBM pump organ – still seem to have a fair number of designs in stock.
JBM’s pieces are often elaborate, well conceived, and collectible, and can command high prices on the secondary market, but (in my experience) they tend to have a slight heaviness and a shininess that true artisan pieces don’t have. On the other hand, JBM (and Bespaq before them) have come up with a number of wonderful designs which have no equivalent elsewhere!
