Born in West Yorkshire and now based in Northamptonshire, Neil Carter is a brilliant bronze-caster in miniature. He has created replicas of statues by artists as diverse as Donatello and Degas, Giambologna and Giacometti, using the lost-wax method to produce gorgeous bronzes at a tiny scale. We’re the proud owners of several of his works so far and hope very much to add to our collection in the future. Neil’s work is so lovely that it could happily be displayed outside of a miniaturist environment, and I’ve wondered about having a few of his Art Deco pieces scattered around the home office. His sculptures will form the centrepieces of the Gallery when we finally get the house built – and I have my eye on a couple of his more ambitious pieces for that, which will pack a real punch and create a proper Renaissance ambience. But I couldn’t say no to one of his gorgeous Degas Little Dancers either!
