Victoria Heredia Guerbós, from Malaga in Spain, is one of the greats among miniature artisans. She has managed the remarkable feat of developing two completely different, but equally desirable product lines. On the one hand, she creates adorable toy dolls for the dolls’ house nursery, ranging from Victorian sailor boys and girls to a range of international dolls. On the other, she crafts exquisitely detailed and very delicate sculptures of cherubs from polymer clay. Some are colourful; others in plain white highlighted with touches of gold.
I had the enormous pleasure of meeting Victoria in person at the Kensington Dolls House Festival in May 2022 and was bowled over by her passion, her enthusiasm and her sheer bubbling friendliness. She told me, in careful Spanish, all about the gorgeous works that I was buying, pointing out that her toy dolls are articulated and even have tiny glass eyes, and explaining that all her pieces are made by hand, without moulds, and each piece is utterly unique. A completely charming lady.
