Figurines

Victorian houses were full of decorative accents, and Quartermaine Hall is no exception. The family have 18th-century Meissen, Capodimonte and Staffordshire-style figurines alongside more modern examples. These ‘antique’ pieces are largely the work of two very popular miniature sculptors, Randall Zadar and Robert Olszewski, who drew inspiration from Rococo ceramics to create their own complex designs. Their work is cast in bronze and then hand-painted in a variety of colour combinations. Our collection of their work is supplemented by a few very special pieces by Tricia Street, in incredibly delicate porcelain, which show the remarkable finesse that can be achieved by miniature artisans.

Many of these figurines are destined for the feminine haven of the Breakfast Room, although a few might end up in the Day Nursery or the Housekeeper’s Parlour, due to their subject matter or perhaps a slightly more rustic quality.
