This Shaker-style storage or hat box was made and painted by the gifted mini basketmaker Al Chandronnait. It is one of two such boxes in the collection, very similar in decoration. Unlike the other, this box is signed and dated both by Chandronnait himself and by the painters, Bearly Big Enough, the specialists in wonderful folk-art style miniatures. The charming rustic quality of the boxes, and the colourful farm scenes painted on the sides, mean that they will fit perfectly in the Day Nursery.
